When I became a mama, I had all these plans for how I was going to do everything perfectly. My kid was going to have the perfect diet, never be on an iPad, only watch PG movies until she’s 18. 👍

Boy, was I living in a dream world!!!

Having a kid has been the biggest lesson for learning to roll with life and know it’s never going to play out like I envision it. Having a kid has proven it’s never going to be all sunshine, rainbows and the perfect organic menu!

Life is messy! The ideal of the perfect life is just a pipedream. Sooner or later, something falls through and reveals the cracks that make up life on earth. And, there can be many.

And, sometimes those cracks can make things feel unstable. They can make it feel like the ground below our feet is falling through. They can make it feel like things are crashing in. They can make us feel unworthy and unlovable. If you are a perfectionist like me, these cracks can make you want to give up.

But, do you know what? Sometimes, the cracks can reveal what’s really important. Sometimes, showing through the cracks is a ray of sunshine. Sometimes, it’s a tiny sprout from a seed you’ve been watering for a long time. Sometimes, you hear music and laughter or cheers when something’s gone right. Sometimes, through these cracks we smell the scent of cinnamon at Christmas and coconut sunscreen in July.

Life is imperfect. As for the cracks, I’m afraid there’s no sealing them up tightly. The key is to do our best with what we’ve been handed and try to see more of the good through the gaps.

If you are a creative woman 40+ and you are ready to start seeing more of the good in the gaps, we’d love to have you in our FEELIN GOOD Community!
