Nine years ago today my world was turned completely upside down. The life I thought I was going to live came to an abrupt halt.
After thousands of walks on this beach and walks with my crazy dog, countless training sessions with beautiful people, time in reflection, dance recitals and cheer practices, chasing a cat, maneuvering through chaos, hugs and tears, missing my family, homework, feelings of inadequacy, feelings of triumph, dilemmas, struggles and celebrations, figuring out business, figuring out myself, figuring out how to parent, amazing trips, Violet, FGM, paintings, drawings, books, podcasts, laundry, dishes, meals, being in nature, holidays, summers, falls, winters, springs. joy and sadness, wind, snow, rain, sun and hurricanes….
After all of this, nine years later, I’m happy to report we are still here. Life looks a lot different, but it’s not bad. My little girl and I have been on a crazy journey. Many days I wouldn’t wish it on anyone and other days I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.
That’s just life though, right? Like a box of chocolates, we take what’s placed before us and savor the sweetest moments when we find them.
