Sophistication SaturdayYour Own Inner Elegance

As a kid, I absolutely loved old movies from the 1940s and 1950s. There was just something about the way the women spoke and carried themselves. Men seemed so doting and debonaire. Everything was so magical. It seemed so different from the way everyone was behaving in “real life” and I was completely drawn into the fantacy and extravagance of it all.

I grew up thinking that elegant life was only for those living inside the tv or movie screen. And, to an extent, I was right. Hollywood is the land of make-believe, after all.

But I desired, as a kid, to feel that elegance in my own body. I wanted to know what it would be like to float across the room in a long, flowing dress and be swept off my feet by Cary Grant.

Sadly, that moment has never come, but I have learned to carry a piece of that energy inside me when needed. Sometimes, if I’m down, I try to walk with quicker, lighter, daintier steps. I hold my head a little higher and imagine long, spiraling curls cascading down my back as I walk across a gold-guilded, fashion-filled ballroom. There are horns and drums banging up a storm in the background.

I’ve learned that elegance isn’t about having fancy things or a lot of fanfare – although that can be very nice. It’s not about walking into a room and the music stopping for everyone to turn my way to take in me in all my glory. 😂

No, elegance is the energy and essence we can all carry and bring to the table in “real life” as Creative Queens.

….

When a Creative Woman is grounded in who she is- calm, connected to her body and present when she listens and speaks, her aura is louder than anything else in the room.

She’s never loud to get attention.
She doesn’t force if something’s not working. She simply exists in all her magnificence. She flows.

As Creative Feminine Leaders, our elegance comes from embodiment.
When we regulate our nervous system and lead from peace within, we don’t need all the fancy stuff outside. From that magic within us, we create trust, influence, and magnetism.

When we finally learn we have nothing to prove, our inner Audrey Hepburn can come out to shine.

…..

This weekend, take a moment to ground yourself. Breathe deeply and fill your heart with gratitude that you get to live this life in your own inner elegance and beauty, no matter the circumstances or what others are doing around you. Hold yourself to the highest of standards and know you’re worth it.

These are the royal rituals of a Creative Queen.
